Can I start my own store before registering the program
or will I lose data?
Upon registering Costume Vision all data entered
into any stores created in the demo version is still available for use
after registering the program.
Can Costume Vision work with different
date formats?
Costume Vision will work with a variety of
Regional Settings, however, certain date formats will not work with the
program. Currently the program functions best with Lite English date
settings. This means that you must set your computer's regional settings
to have the short date displayed with a "/" separator. For example,
in US dates the 27th of November would have the short date setting of 11/27/2001
or in UK settings dates this would be 27/11/2001. The programs will not
work with dates which use a "." as the date separator. For instance
the Icelandic format of 27.11.2001 will not work with the program.
If you have a short date setting which does not use the "/" separator,
in order to use the program you will need to change your regional settings
on your computer but it is often possible to find an alternative date format
that will work with the program without forcing you change your language
setting. In order to change your regional settings you must enter the Control
Panel (from the Windows Start Menu select Settings and then Control Panel)
and select the Regional Settings option (or the equivalent in the language
your version of windows uses). Here you must change your short date setting
to a 11/27/2001 format - there are various combinations of language and
region that will achieve this (Language 'English US' and Region 'USA' is
just one) - the only important thing is to find a setting that uses the
"/" separator for the short date. Please note that in order for
the settings to take effect you must restart your computer. If in doubt
as to suitable settings for your region please email
us stating your country location and your preferred language.
Is Costume Vision available
in other languages?
The Costume Vision interface is currently available in English only.
The English version of the program will work with a variety of languages
for any data input, although some special characters may be ignored.
The comma (,) currency separator is supported in Costume Vision. Prices
may be entered with either a comma (,) or a period (.)
The receipt configuration options available in Costume Vision allow
receipts to be printed in virtually any language.
I don't want to use my credit card online - is there another way to pay?
In selected countries it is possible to pay by bank deposit or it
is also possible to make payments using PayPal.
PayPal allows a variety of diverse payment methods to be used - for
instance in the USA you may deposit a check or cash into your Paypal
account and use this to purchase Costume Vision. Please email
for full instructions when you are ready to to this noting that it
can take much longer to process than a standard online purchase using
Worldpay (in order to continue using the program you should leave
sufficient time on your demonstration period for the purchase to be
completed).
Why do I get an error
message when adding or editing a customer?Costume Vision works
with Microsoft Access databases which require that you have Microsoft
Data Access Components installed on your computer. Users with Windows
98 SE or above already have the required components - some other users
will also have these components as part of Microsoft Office. However,
if you do not have the required components you may download them FREE
from Microsoft HERE
If you are running Windows XP then you will need to click
here to download and install a smaller part of these components.
Why do I sometimes have
trouble creating a database backup?
After running the program for extended periods a backup
is sometimes not possible due to the database being locked by the program
and you will get a failed message. Closing the program and reopening
it will allow your database backup to run as normal.
Which operating systems
does Costume Vision work with?
All Costume Vision programs are Windows based and will work with all versions
of Windows if set up correctly. The program requires that you have Microsoft
Data Access Components installed on your computer. Users with Windows 98
SE or above (Windows 98 SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows NT) already
have the required components - some other users will also have these components
as part of Microsoft Office. However, if you do not have the required components
you may download them FREE from Microsoft HERE
If you are running Windows XP and do not have Microsoft Office on your computer,
you may need to click
here to download and install a smaller part of these components.
If I start my store on my
home computer can I transfer the data to my store computer when I am
ready?
Yes - Costume Vision works with Microsoft
Access databases which can easily be transferred between computers. Once
you have finished inputting your data on your home computer the data can
be transferred in a variety of ways - for instance, after zipping the file
with Win Zip (a free and easy to use utility available here)
the database should easily fit onto a floppy disk and be taken to the store.
Extra instructions and support to assist you achieve this is available by
emailing at the time.
Can I run Costume Vision on a
network?
Costume Vision is fully network compatible, although if you are running
the program on more than one terminal you must pay a multiple licence fee
- please see the prices page for extra information.
Please email with
your desired configuration when you are ready to purchase and you will be
sent the appropriate purchase link. The program will work well on most network
configurations, from a dedicated server to a simple network of two computers.
Is there a telephone support line?
All program support is done via email. When comparing prices of software
you should always check the length of support given with purchase and also
the price of an annual support agreement. The inefficiency of phone support
means that prohibitively expensive support agreements are charged to program
users. Most competitors who provide phone support charge more for this annually
than the purchase price of the program, typically between $500 and $800
per year. Email support is efficient and cost effective - with the extra
stability given by Windows programs the need for telephone support has diminished
dramatically and most companies now simply provide this as means of generating
themselves easy profits.
